Culver's VIP (Very Important Partners) Scholarship Program has awarded $295,000 to further the education of 246 team members nationwide in 2012.

Culver's VIP Foundation, Inc. is a tax exempt not-for-profit entity developed in 2002 to assist young team members in achieving their goal of earning a college or technical school degree. The 246 figure is one of the largest numbers ever to benefit from the program since Culver's began funding scholarships in 1993. Since that time, Culver's has invested more than $2 million in student scholarships to more than 2,000 team members.

"I'm so impressed with our team members who provide quality food and service to our guests every day,” says Lea Culver, executive director of the VIP program. “It's an honor to commit to them by teaching them responsibility, leadership and teamwork skills within our restaurants. The VIP program allows us to help them reach their longer term goals."

Lea Culver presented the scholarships at a ceremony today in Prairie du Sac, Wisconsin.

Primary financial support of the program comes from the generous contributions of Culver's supplier partners. Other funding comes from franchisee support, funding from Culver Franchising System, Inc. and special events. Team members submit applications for funding and judging teams are made up of supply partners and educators.
