“Freddy embodies the values and era that our brand was born to personify,” remarks Bill Simon, president and co-founder of Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers as well as Freddy Simon’s son. “We are proud to mark another amazing year with our Freddy’s family across the country and with the guests who have made our restaurants successful.”

Freddy Simon spent his professional career in the hospitality industry where he credits his ever-present smile and solid work ethic for his career successes. He grew up on a farm near Colwich, Kansas, and signed up for the infantry in the U.S. Army at the first opportunity. Freddy was barely 18 years old but felt compelled to join the military and do his part for our country’s security. After years of fighting in places around the Pacific Rim and after the devastating loss of many of his fellow soldiers, Freddy watched from a nearby warship as the Japanese Emperor signed the unconditional surrender to end the war. He was awarded a Purple Heart for his service. When Freddy returned home after his tour of service, he attended college at Wichita State University where he played varsity basketball and graduated with a degree in accounting after three quick years of study.

He worked for the same Wichita wholesale beverage company for 56 years while raising his family. Freddy believes he is “the luckiest man in the world.” He is an active participant in veterans groups and WWII Memorials across the state, a long-time member of St. Thomas Aquinas Church, a proud father of six, a grandfather of 14, and a great-grandfather of eight.
