Now through June 16, FREEBIRDS World Burrito and its charity arm, World Works, will join the fight to end children’s hunger by encouraging its “Fanatics,” or loyalty members, to donate their “stamps” (accrued loyalty points) in order to provide meals for children who do not get enough food.
“There are currently more than 16 million children in the United States who live in households that do not have access to nutritious food on a regular basis,” says World Works director Annette Beavers. “Through our Feed Little Bellies campaign, we want to encourage our Fanatics to help feed children in need by donating their Fanatic points.”
FREBIRDS Fanatics can go to www.freebirds.com/donate and donate as many or as few points as they would like. At the end of June, FREEBIRDS will load points in the form of gift cards to give to local food banks to distribute. The food banks will give the cards to families in need so they can redeem the cards for some awesome FREEBIRDS burritos, burrito bowls, nachos, salads, and more.
FREEBIRDS is working with the following food banks: Capital Area Food Bank of Texas; Food Share Los Angeles/Ventura; Harvesters in Kansas City; Houston Food Bank; Sacramento Food Bank; San Antonio Food Bank; and Tarrant Area Food Bank.
“World Works was designed with a simply philosophy—we believe we can change the world, one burrito at a time,” says FREEBIRDS CEO Bryan Lockwood. “With the help of our loyal Fanatics, we hope to do our part to end children’s hunger.”
