Hardee's Introduces New Steak 'N' Egg Burrito

    Industry News | January 23, 2006
Hardee's, a leader in the QSR breakfast arena, today announced the newest addition to its morning menu, the Steak 'N' Egg Burrito.

Famous for its Made-From-Scratch(TM) biscuits, Hardee's has previously expanded the breakfast category by introducing new breakfast burritos and its innovative bowls. Today's entry represents the chain's continuing emphasis on food quality, by featuring steak as an ingredient.

The Steak 'N' Egg Burrito includes strips of real grilled steak, plus a blend of Swiss and cheddar cheeses, with two eggs, all wrapped in a large, warm flour tortilla. This delicious blend of breakfast flavors is served with zesty salsa.

"Burritos have become a staple in the American breakfast diet," said Brad Haley, executive vice president of marketing for Hardee's. "Our Made-From- Scratch biscuits continue to be our signature breakfast favorite, but the success of last year's Loaded Breakfast Burrito(TM) proved once again that a burrito is a popular and convenient new way to enjoy traditional breakfast items. And, steak and eggs is a classic combination at breakfast that tastes great together in a burrito."

The Steak 'N' Egg Burrito is available starting today at participating Hardee's restaurants, for a suggested retail price of $2.99 each, or $4.39 for a combo including hash rounds and coffee. Prices may vary at some restaurants.

Hardee's Food Systems, Inc. is a wholly owned subsidiary of CKE Restaurants, Inc. (NYSE: CKR) of Carpinteria, Calif. As of the third fiscal quarter ended Nov. 7, 2005, CKE Restaurants, Inc., through its subsidiaries, had a total of 3,163 franchised or company-owned restaurants in 43 states and in 13 countries, including 1,042 Carl's Jr.(R) restaurants, 2,004 Hardee's restaurants and 101 La Salsa Fresh Mexican Grill(R) restaurants.
