Because of his passion for child nutrition, Kevin Woods, SNS, CFSP, LEED AP, has been nominated to serve as industry representative to the School Nutrition Association (SNA) Board of Directors.

An 18-year veteran of the foodservice equipment industry, Woods’ career includes a strong focus on child nutrition and education.

Woods was one of the first in the foodservice equipment industry to achieve the School Nutrition Specialist (SNS) credentialing through the School Nutrition Foundation. This credential underscores a commitment to understanding the job of nutrition programs in schools from an operational standpoint.

Woods enjoys strong relationships with foodservice directors throughout the country, as well as industry members.

“I am honored to have the potential opportunity to serve in a leadership role as the eyes and ears of industry on the SNA Board of Directors,” Woods says. “More industry involvement in the association is critical, and I am committed to helping develop the industry sessions, tools, and materials to make involvement easier. As the voice of the industry, I will actively seek feedback regarding how members can get the most out of SNA.”

Woods currently holds the position of sales director, central region, at Unified Brands—which includes Groen steam cooking, Randell refrigeration, and Avtec ventilation.

Previously, Woods served as marketing manager for the education segments for the ITW brands Hobart and Traulsen and led the creation of Hobart’s sustainability efforts.

Woods is currently serving as co-chair for the January 2013 SNA Child Nutrition Industry Conference with Lora Gilbert, senior director of food and nutrition services, Orange County Schools in Florida. The conference enables the industry and operators to meet and discuss key issues impacting child nutrition programs.

He also served on the Board of Directors for the School Nutrition Foundation as an industry member.

Woods is a sought-after speaker and has presented to both the state and national level for the School Nutrition Association, the Society for Foodservice Management, the National Association of College and University Food Service, Foodservice Consultant Society International, and the Association of School Business Officials.

Additionally, he is a Certified Foodservice Professional through the North American Food Equipment Manufacturers Association.

Woods holds a BA in organizational communications from Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio, and is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps.

The SNA Nominating Committee selected Woods to be included in the slate of candidates for the 2012 SNA election ballot after reviewing the biographical information, supporting documents, and goals for each candidate.

SNA’s annual election is conducted online from October 15–November 15, 2012. SNA Industry Members vote for the industry representative on the Board of Directors using a secure election website. The winners of the election will serve on the 2013–2015 SNA Board of Directors and Nominating Committee, with the installation to take place at SNA’s 67th Annual National Conference, July 14-17, 2013, in Kansas City, Missouri.
