In the hopes that spring is right around the corner, Krystal restaurants announced a unique limited-time offer for this year’s Groundhog Day results. On February 2, Punxsutawney Phil, the legendary weather-predicting groundhog, will pop his head out of his hole for the 217th time since 1887. On that day, he’ll either see his shadow, indicating six more weeks of winter, or he won’t see his shadow, signaling an early spring. Krystal is adding to the excitement with its own prediction offer: If Phil sees his shadow, guests can receive one free Shrimp Po’ Boy with purchase. If the groundhog does not see his shadow, then guests can enjoy two free Shrimp Po’ Boys with purchase. The Shrimp Po’ Boy is a limited-time offering at the Tennessee-based chain.
“Our Shrimp Po’ Boy makes everything better—even and maybe especially if that’s six more weeks of winter,” says Alice Crowder, vice president of marketing for Krystal. “That’s why we’re offering the extra sandwich if the groundhog sees his shadow. On the other hand, Shrimp Po’ Boy also happens to be a great way to celebrate the arrival of an early spring. So, it’s a win-win for our guests.”
