The National Restaurant Association issued the following statement regarding the Immigration Reform Standards released during this week's House Republican retreat:
“The National Restaurant Association is encouraged by House Republican leadership prioritization of immigration at this week’s conference, and we urge Congress to move forward on immigration reform this year. With nearly 1 million restaurant locations and 13.5 million workers, sensible immigration reform is vital to our industry. We look forward to continuing our work with Congress to find solutions that will strengthen our borders; provide a way for employers to hire from abroad when not enough U.S. workers are available; create a reasonable path towards legal work status for undocumented workers; and establish a verification system that is effective, inexpensive and reliable, and does not unfairly burden employers.”
