When the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League (NHL) lace up their skates and take to the ice for the fast-paced season opener in Fall 2009, they will count Panasonic as their new “Official Partner”.
Panasonic’s role as the “Official Partner of the LA Kings” is part of a long-term agreement between Panasonic and AEG, the sports and entertainment company that owns the NHL team, STAPLES Center where they play, the L.A. LIVE sports, entertainment and residential district in downtown Los Angeles, and numerous other venues around the world.
The agreement includes extensive cross sponsorship opportunities as well as product integration for Panasonic in AEG-owned properties across North America.
“We are extremely pleased to become a member of the LA Kings family. By integrating Panasonic technologies with the excitement of the LA Kings, we look forward to providing fans with the ultimate sports-entertainment experience,” says Joseph Taylor, executive vice president and chief operating officer of Panasonic Corporation of North America. “When fans attend the LA Kings hockey games, it will truly be an experience that is powered by Panasonic.”
Panasonic technologies were used at the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics and for all Games since 1988, as an Official Worldwide Olympic Partner. The company also recently announced its partnership in a project to build a Major League Soccer stadium and waterfront complex by 2010 near Philadelphia.
