Panda Express announced it will call the Micronesia Mall home for its first restaurant in Guam. The company is celebrating its entrance into the Guamian community by hosting a grand opening fundraising event on December 5, with 100 percent of the day’s sales being donated to support the victims of Typhoon Haiyan, which hit the Philippines and surrounding areas earlier this month. The Micronesia Mall is located at 1088 W. Marine Corps Drive, in Dededo.
Lt. Governor Ray Tenorio, along with founder and fo-CEO of Panda Express, Andrew Cherng, will be in attendance to welcome guests, and for the 10 a.m. ribbon cutting ceremony.
“We are thrilled to have found a new home in Guam; and while it is our goal to provide delicious Chinese food to our guests, we are driven by the idea that our presence may bring value and new opportunities to the communities in which we serve,” says John Zhang, Panda Express’ operations leader for the Hawaii region and Guam. “We look forward to developing strong local ties and delivering memorable dining experiences for years to come.”
Panda Express is seeking to hire locals who have an appetite for providing service with heart. The company strives to be the world leader in people development and is committed to providing growth opportunities, as well as a safe and positive work environment for employees.
Celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, Panda Express offers Chinese food cooked with passion, including the company’s more than 10 Wok-Smart dishes, each containing 250 calories or less per serving. All of Panda’s entrees utilize the freshest ingredients such as diced red bell peppers, sliced zucchini, crunchy peanuts, and green onions, tossed together with marinated chicken in Panda’s Kung Pao Chicken. The menu will also feature more indulgent dishes, including Panda’s famous Orange Chicken.
Panda is planning to open five more Guam locations, with the second restaurant scheduled to open before the start of 2014 at the Agana Shopping Center in Hagnata. Each store will create about 20 job opportunities in the Guamian community.
