New England Authentic Eats, the parent company of Papa Gino’s Pizzeria and D’Angelo Grilled Sandwiches, announced Friday that it promoted Tom Sterrett to CEO.

Before the promotion, Sterrett served as COO of the brands, a role he held since February 2019. He is a former division vice president and senior vice president for Papa John’s and a franchisee and assistant regional vice president for Domino’s Pizza. He is succeeding Bill Van Epps, who served as CEO since February.

Wynnchurch Capital, a private equity investment firm, finalized the purchase of PGHC Holdings—the former owner of the restaurant chains—in 2019 after the company filed for bankruptcy. The firm rebranded the entity as New England Authentic Eats.

There are more than 150 Papa Gino’s and D’Angelo Grilled Sandwiches scattered across New England. Both D’Angelo and Papa Gino’s were founded more than 50 years ago in Massachusetts.
