Qdoba Mexican Grill announced September 7 plans to roll out its Tortilla Soup this October. The Denver-based chain had success with the product when it was first introduced last fall, but took it off the menu in most stores during the warm weather months. The soup will be available through April and will be included in the 52 unit’s fall advertising campaign.
The Tortilla Soup is a vegetarian broth based soup and has a spice flavor created from roasted poblano and jalapeno peppers. The soup combines a mixture of tomatoes, onions, peppers, and cilantro. Guests can order it “vegetarian” or with chicken. It is served in a 7-oz bowl, and is topped with tortilla strips and sour cream. The soup is offered by the bowl, or as part of the “Tortilla Soup Trio”?which consists of a bowl of soup, taco, and a 22 oz soft drink. In the Dallas and Denver corporate restaurants, the bowl sells for $2.99, and the Trio sells for $4.99, but prices may vary in franchise markets.
