A survey just released by SnagAJob.com lifts the curtain on some of the details behind running a small business.
The survey found that the top motivation for these entrepreneurs is “being their own boss,” with 91 percent saying it was among their top-three influencers. But the survey findings go on to debunk the myth that running one’s own company is a path to lucrative pay and a leisurely work schedule.
Only one in five business owners who have between two and 10 employees is earning more than they had hoped to make when they started their companies. They also put in an average of 58 hours per week. Almost two-thirds say that starting their own business has been more personally fulfilling than they ever thought it would be.
More statistics are available in the survey that provide a deeper look into what it really means to “be your own boss.”
