Starbird, the nation’s first super premium fast-food concept, is excited to open the doors to its second standalone location in San Jose, California, on Wednesday, October 25, 2017. Located at Silicon Valley’s new Brokaw Plaza shopping center (1088 East Brokaw Road), Starbird sets a new standard for fast food with high-quality, from-scratch ingredients and chicken that is hand-cut and hand-battered in-house, all alongside bold flavors and a new way to experience the traditional drive thru. The new San Jose location will be open for lunch and dinner seven days a week.
Starbird is the brain child of San Francisco-based innovation agency The Culinary Edge (TCE) and its venture division, The Culinary Edge Ventures (TCEV). Founders Aaron Noveshen, Stephen Goldmann, and Steven Goldstein formed TCEV to be an incubator for revolutionary dining concepts, and Starbird is its first launched concept. An additional outpost in Santa Clara’s Levi’s Stadium followed the brand’s flagship Sunnyvale location. “At Starbird, we have transformed the traditional fast-food landscape to offer ‘super premium fast food’ that uses high-quality ingredients and evolves the traditional drive-thru experience with mobile ordering and a car-side delivery app,” says Noveshen. “The response from the community has been extremely positive, and we are thrilled to expand to a larger audience in the heart of Silicon Valley.”
Placing convenience in guests’ fingertips, Starbird brings the next generation of drive thru to today’s technologically driven diners. The brand’s proprietary app eliminates the traditional car queue model and instead allows diners to easily order and pay for items for dine-in, pick-up, or car-side delivery.
The anchor of Starbird’s menu is its positively delicious chicken, sourced from Petaluma Poultry and hand-cut, hand-battered, and gluten-free. Starbird’s entirely from-scratch kitchen brings their greatest hits to the new San Jose location alongside fresh, seasonal menu items to reflect international flavors that pay homage to the diversity of the Bay Area. With a concept created in Silicon Valley for Silicon Valley, standouts include the Starbird Sandwich ($6.95) with signature crispy chicken, nutrient-packed super [kale] slaw, and avocado on a house-baked roll; the Free Range Ranch Sandwich ($7.95) with signature crispy chicken, tangy slaw, bacon, pimento cheese, and Greek yogurt ranch; and the Seoul Mate Taco ($3.50) with crispy chicken, kimchi, and a gochujang-laden sweet and spicy Seoul sauce. Exclusive to the San Jose location, Starbird will also offer a Spicy Sriracha Buffalo Sandwich ($7.50) with rotating seasonal items, like Sunnyvale’s former Heirloom Tomato CBLT with crispy chicken, fresh heirloom tomatoes, basil, and green goddess dressing.
In addition to Starbird’s signature house fries and seasonal house made lemonades and teas, the new location will offer eight from-scratch sauces. For dessert, guests can choose from the Starbird Ice Cream Sandwich ($3.75) with Three Twins vanilla ice cream sandwiched between two house-baked chocolate chip cookies or the favored housemade Waffle Sticks ($2.95) with powdered sugar and real maple syrup.
Starbird San Jose is open Monday to Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and Sundays from 10:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m, with a third Foster City location on its way. Orders are accepted in-store, online, from the mobile app, and via UberEATS and Eat24. Starbird also partners with Zesty to offer corporate catering.
