Taco Bell cites proprietary research showing that almost half of Americans — 46 percent, or more than 128 million people — say they prefer food “wrapped in a tortilla” when feeling adventurous. It doesn’t hurt that quick-service salads have proven to be more popular than perhaps anyone thought possible.

Either way, Taco Bell has added a Chicken Caesar Grilled Stuft Burrito, available through August 11 at participating Taco Bell restaurants nationwide for $2.99.

The burrito contains grilled, marinated all-white-meat chicken, romaine lettuce, red tortilla strips, and Caesar dressing, wrapped in a tortilla and grilled.

Greg Creed, marketing chief at Taco Bell, notes the distinction of offering a salad in wrapped form, calling it “a perfect solution for on-the-go consumers.”

Reports indicate that Wendy’s will launch a similar wrapped salad soon.
