A&W Restaurants, Inc. will begin a rollout of a new test product in the Detroit market called “Texas Toast” in early April 2000. Over 30 Metro Detroit area A restaurants will serve the new line, which includes a Texas Bacon-Lettuce-Tomato sandwich, a Texas Cheeseburger BLT sandwich, a Texas grilled chicken BLT sandwich and a Texas crispy chicken BLT sandwich. Served on a one-inch thick grilled Texas style toast, all sandwiches will include bacon, lettuce and tomato.

Testing will run through June.

A, founded in 1919, has one thousand domestic restaurants in forty eight states including Michigan, Wisconsin, Colorado, and California, and 180 international units in 14 countries in Asia, Mideast and Latin America, plus agreements in four more countries. A’s “All American Menu” consists of: A Root Beer, hot dogs, coney (chili) dogs, hamburgers, french fries, chicken sandwiches, A Root Beer Floats, plus regional items.

Formed in 1999, Yorkshire Global Restaurants is the parent company for both A Restaurants and Long John Silver’s Restaurants. The combined companies have more than 2200 restaurants across the United States and around the world.
