Whataburger is celebrating National Hamburger Day with a one-day digital promotion and community outreach efforts across the Carolinas.
On Thursday, May 28, Whataburger Rewards members who purchase a medium fry and medium drink will be eligible to receive a free Whataburger when ordering online or scanning the Whataburger app in-store. Customers who redeem the offer will also be automatically entered into a sweepstakes for the opportunity to win free Whataburger for a year.
In addition to the promotion, the company said it partnered with local organizations across North and South Carolina to provide meal donations benefiting food banks, shelters, and nonprofit groups serving individuals and families experiencing food insecurity.
According to the brand, donations were distributed to organizations including Open Door Ministries, The Salvation Army, Crisis Control Ministries, Food Bank of the Lakelands, Harvest Family Ministries, and Anderson Interfaith Ministries.
Whataburger said the initiative was designed to support local communities while recognizing National Hamburger Day.
