Growing fast-casual restaurant brand VertsKebap announced plans to expand to the East Coast in 2016.

VertsKebap, which opened 10 locations this year and 26 locations total in Texas since launching in 2011, will bring its award-winning Mediterranean restaurant concept to markets like Boston, Washington, D.C., and New York City.

“In the past five years we have developed a brand our guests love and food they crave,” says cofounder and CEO Michael Heyne. "There is tremendous demand for fresh, flavorful, high-quality Mediterranean food from consumers on the East Coast, and we are very passionate about delivering it to them.”

VertsKebap recently secured $20 million in private funding. The new investment will help fuel the company’s expansion to the East Coast as well as fund internal departmental growth.

“This financing represents a landmark moment in our company’s growth,” says cofounder and CFO Dominik Stein. “It empowers us to continue to expand as well as invest in key areas like technology and branding that will heighten the overall guest experience.”

VertsKebap plans to open between five and 10 restaurants on the East Coast next year, starting in late spring. The company will also continue to expand in Texas with plans to open 10 to 12 locations across Dallas, Austin, Houston, and San Antonio. Overall, VertsKebap plans to open 20 new restaurants in 2016.

Four restaurants will open in the first two months of 2016. In January, VertsKebap will open locations in San Marcos, Texas, and in Tech Ridge in Austin. In February, two new Houston-area locations will open in Pearland
