May 3 is the day Rita’s Italian Ice was made for—National Italian Ice Day. Rita’s, the authority on Italian Ice, is thrilled to honor the treat they’ve built their brand on.

Since this day is such a hit with Italian Ice lovers all over, the frozen treat brand even has a proclamation from Pennsylvania Governor, Tom Wolf, to declare May 3 Italian Ice Day. The home state of Rita’s now officially recognizes this day as a holiday on their calendars.

This year, Rita’s will reward all guests who download the Rita’s Ice app between now and May 3 with a free regular Italian Ice, valid May 3 only. New app users will receive a reward within their Rita’s app wallet, and must show the coupon at Rita’s on May 3 in order to receive their free regular Italian Ice.

Rita’s is also launching Rita’s Big Ice-dea sweepstakes on their Facebook page. Fans can submit ideas for the perfect flavor of Italian Ice. No matter how wacky or deliciously cool, fans are encouraged to show their creativity. Submissions are being accepted now through June 7 and one lucky winner, announced on June 24, will receive a year’s worth of vouchers for free Italian Ice. For official rules, visit ritasice.com/bigicedeasweepstakes.

“What better way to celebrate National Italian Ice Day than with Rita’s?” says Linda Chadwick, president and CEO of Rita’s Italian Ice. “We hope our new app users enjoy their free regular Italian Ice on May 3 and can’t wait to see the ‘Big Ice-deas’ our fans come up with for the chance to win free Italian Ice for a whole year.”
