Maui Tacos announced today that it has entered into a development deal with Meritage Enterprises. The new franchisees said that they expected to open the first two restaurants next year.
“We can’t wait to introduce Houston to Maui Tacos,” said Michael Yang, a spokesperson for the new franchisor. “It is a great, chef-driven concept that presents a quality menu.”
“The Houston market is an untouched area for us. It is a great market and a rapidly growing community, and we believe Houston will take to Maui Tacos as easily as they take to the beaches of Maui,” said Jeff Endervelt, CEO of Maui Tacos International, Inc. “This is the first of several major deals that Maui Tacos will announce this year. The brand is in the early stages of some significant growth over the next several years and we are very excited by this development.”
Maui Tacos is known for its chef-driven menu. Its founder, acclaimed Hawaiian chef and restaurateur Mark Ellman, opened the quick-casual concept in Maui after he discovered that there were no good Mexican restaurants in Hawaii. Today there are 18 Maui Tacos locations in 10 cities across the country.
