As it turns out, McDonald’s couldn’t keep up with the demand for its new Buttermilk Crispy Tenders. With promises of a late December return, the fast food giant told Business Insider it is pulling the menu item from locations around the country.

"Because demand far surpassed our expectations, we will soon take a brief break from serving them at our restaurants. By the end of next month, however, our craveable and delicious tenders will be back and available for everyone's enjoyment,"McDonald’s told Business Insider.

The Buttermilk Crispy Tenders were first introduced in a press release on September 27. They’re made with 100 percent white meat chicken and no artificial flavors, colors or preservatives.

McDonald’s also created a new Signature Sauce to accompany the launch.

“Our new Buttermilk Crispy Tenders are another example of how we’re giving customers the food they love,” McDonald’s Chef Michael Haracz said at the time. “We also know they have a lot of passion for our sauces so we created a brand new Signature Sauce that perfectly complements Buttermilk Crispy Tenders with the ideal balance of sweet and tangy flavors. It might be my new favorite. Please don’t tell Honey Mustard
