Dickey’s Barbecue announced record Mother’s Day sales, with year-over-year sales up a full 25 percent.
The company also reported the best system-wide sales for a Sunday in the 72-year history of the rapidly growing barbecue concept.
“Mother’s Day has always been a great day in sales, but not traditionally our strongest Sunday,” says Roland Dickey Jr., president and CEO of Dickey’s Barbecue Restaurants. “This year, we beat all company sales records for Mother’s Day even without a special offer geared to the holiday. We’re energized and looking forward to the upcoming Memorial weekend and Father’s Day.”
Dickey’s Barbecue is officially the nation’s largest barbecue franchise and was recently named the fastest-growing fast-casual restaurant concept by Technomic.
Dickey’s celebrated Mother’s Day through a social media contest, “Mom & Me”, which asked fans to post pictures sharing a Big Yellow Cup of the new Miss Ollie’s Tea with their mom.
The Texas-based barbecue company is planning a similar campaign to engage customers for Father’s Day.
“Families were out in force for Mother’s Day and we’re thrilled that so many enjoyed our Kids Eat Free on Sunday promotion that we have always offered on Sundays,” Dickey says. “Especially on Mother’s Day, families are looking for good-quality dining options at affordable prices—and the free ice cream doesn’t hurt either.”
