Schlotzsky’s Inc. today announced sales trends of its franchise system for the four-week period of February 2000.
These sales include all restaurants in the franchise system including both franchised restaurants and company-owned restaurants.
Same store sales increased 4.9% in February 2000 over February 1999. Systemwide sales for all restaurants in the Schlotzsky’s franchise system (including both franchised restaurants and company-owned restaurants) for February 2000 were $32.1 million, a 12.3% increase over the same time in February 1999. Average weekly sales increased 9.7% over the same time period in 1999 to $10,962 per restaurant. Systemwide sales for the trailing twelve months (March 1999 — February 2000) were $406.3 million, which is an increase of 13.7% over the same period last year.
In comparing February 1999 to February 2000, the calendar and the accounting periods are the same for the four-week period.
Schlotzsky’s Inc., founded in Austin in 1971, is a franchisor of quick-service restaurants featuring made to order sandwiches served on distinctive sourdough bread, along with pizzas, salads and soups. As of Dec. 31, 1999, there were 759 Schlotzsky’s restaurants operating in 37 states, the District of Columbia and 13 foreign countries.
