Slapfish, a Modern Seafood Shack serving up bold, crave-worthy dishes in a fast casual setting, announced the opening of its newest location in Sandy, Utah. The restaurant’s second location in Utah (and ninth location total) is slated to open its doors at 10431 South State Street on August 25 as it continues spreading its brand of ridiculously responsible seafood throughout the region.

Known for inventive dishes like Clobster Grilled Cheese, the Dagwood Fish Sandwich and Chowder Fries, the modern seafood shack has created a niche in the marketplace, serving up well-managed seafood in a fast casual setting. Catering to health-conscious individuals, Slapfish Sandy offers an array of heart-healthy dishes including the Epic Burrito, Baja Mahi Sandwich, Simply Grilled Fish Bowl, and more. Boasting a full menu of dishes from under the sea, guests reap the numerous health benefits of seafood with every bite.

“Sandy residents will soon discover that Slapfish is the answer to all their crave-worthy seafood wishes,” says Chef Andrew Gruel, founder and CEO of Slapfish. “With our menu of seasonally-rotating, gourmet dishes in a relaxed setting, guests experience the quality of fine dining with the cost and convenience of faster food. Also setting us apart is the fact that we only serve the freshest fish and shellfish sourced from responsible suppliers of seafood.”

Slapfish Sandy is owned and operated by Salt Lake City restaurant group MeisterBrands, LLC. The entrepreneurs behind the firm, Steve Hawes and Darryl Neider, signed a multi-unit deal with Slapfish in late 2016, and bring over 10 years of experience expanding fast casual concepts across four states, including Utah, California and Oklahoma. Following the success of their first Slapfish location in Lehi, the duo looks forward to offering healthy, gourmet seafood options to a new market, enhancing the local dining scene. With the flourishing population and high household incomes, expanding into Utah’s largest metropolitan area was a no-brainer for the restaurateurs. Similar to Lehi, the greater Salt Lake area has seen tremendous growth in the office space sector, as well as with tech and software startups, increasing the demand for quality, convenient and unique offerings such as Slapfish in the area.

“We couldn’t be more excited for our newest opening in Salt Lake County,” adds Darryl Neider, owner and Principal of MeisterBrands. “Slapfish offers a completely unique dining experience – one that Salt Lake City residents already love – and we are thrilled to have the opportunity to spearhead its growth in partnership with Chef Gruel.“

Founded by Chef Gruel in 2011, Slapfish started as a food truck serving boat-to-plate seafood and quickly grew into nine brick-and-mortar locations, with upcoming openings in South Korea and the UK this year. With plans to open up to eight locations throughout Utah, and at least 60 across the Intermountain West region and Texas over the next ten years, the MeisterBrands team looks forward to making Slapfish a household name in partnership with Gruel.

To celebrate the opening of the vibrant new location, Slapfish Sandy invites locals to a grand opening celebration on August 25 and 26. Customers are invited to indulge in the remarkable seafood offerings, and meet the restaurant innovator behind the concept, Chef Andrew Gruel. Additionally, free Lobster Rolls will be given to the first 100 customers on August 25 and free Lobster Taquitos will be given to the first 100 customers on August 26.
