Slim Chickens will continue expansion of its 100 percent all-natural, fresh chicken and unrivaled flavor in Kentucky, with its newest opening at 3724 Frederica Street in Owensboro on March 4.
The newest Slim Chickens is part of the Houchens Food Group family of brands. A subsidiary of Houchens Industries, a 107-year-old company that is one of the nation’s largest 100% employee-owned companies. Houchens’ portfolio spans more than 13 industries including grocery, convenience stores, construction, and multiple franchise brands. Houchens Food Group is currently operating over 50 restaurants with seven different brands. The team has grown its portfolio to include 5 locations in Kentucky and 5 locations in Tennessee.

Aside from bringing its famous, delicious fried chicken and Southern-inspired sides to the area, the new Slim Chickens location in Owensboro will also make a positive economic impact with over 75 new jobs anticipated for creation in the community.
The Owensboro opening is one piece in Slim Chickens’ larger growth story. Since its founding in 2003, the brand has celebrated over 250 locations opened and a fanatical following in 34 U.S. states, as well as international locations in the United Kingdom, with an overall goal of opening 600 restaurants in the next decade. In Kentucky alone, the brand has already grown tremendously to 10 locations.
