Franchiser SPIN! Neapolitan Pizza plans to open three company-owned locations in the Dallas area, its first company-owned restaurants outside its home market, between November 2014 and May 2015. Honored with numerous awards for its artisan food and business concept, SPIN! will open its first Dallas area location in Southlake, followed by Richardson, and the Las Colinas development in Irving.
SPIN! Pizza also has three locations under construction in its home market of Missouri and Kansas, where it operates six company-owned locations, and franchises in Southern California, the San Francisco Bay Area, Nebraska, North Dakota, and South Dakota.
SPIN! Pizza’s Gail Lozoff—one of four partners experienced in large multi-unit expansion, franchising, and operations— says that entering the Dallas market is part of a careful, measured expansion plan. “We believe that healthy companies have a combination of company-owned and franchise locations,” she says. “We are growing very deliberately because it’s most important for us to preserve the integrity of our company and culture as we transport them to other markets.”
One of SPIN!’s four partners, Mike Kramer, lived in Dallas until recently returning to SPIN!’s home market, Kansas City. Kramer says he looks forward to sharing SPIN! with his former neighbors. “As a former Dallas area resident, I’m very familiar with Dallas and eager to bring SPIN! to the area,” he says. “SPIN!’s food is amazing. The atmosphere is hip and has energy. I feel like our unique approach to the pizza, salad, and wine experience will be welcomed and embraced.”
SPIN! will introduce its hand-spun, stone-fired pizzas to the Dallas area in Southlake Town Square,1586 E. Southlake Blvd. The second area SPIN! Pizza will open in late 2014 or early 2015 at 348 Campbell Road in Richardson’s Canyon Creek Plaza. The Las Colinas SPIN! will be located in a free-standing building at 1030 W. John W. Carpenter Freeway near Southern Methodist University scheduled to open in early 2015.
Until now, SPIN! has turned to franchise partners with successful track records operating multiple units to grow the business in new strategically located markets. “We’ve sought culturally compatible experienced operators who share our core values for operating restaurants and our commitment to quality of product and experience,” Lozoff says. “Now, we have added company-owned stores to our expansion plans.”
