The acclaimed Mexican eatery, Tacombi, announced a significant milestone in its philanthropic journey: the donation of over one million meals through the The Tacombi Foundation since April 2020. In celebration of this achievement and in continued support of its mission, Tacombi will be donating all proceeds from sales on Cinco De Mayo to its foundation for the fourth year in a row. The Tacombi Foundation aims to advance Mexican communities through food, accessibility, education and employment.

Cinco de Mayo marks the most profitable day of the year for Tacombi. In 2021, Tacombi began donating 100% of the proceeds from that day to feeding families in need in the neighborhoods in which it operates. In previous years, on Cinco de Mayo, with the support of Tacombi’s vendors, customers, and team members, the group raised enough funds to produce and distribute 80,000 meals. This year, the group aims to raise enough to produce 120,000 meals, bringing them closer to achieving their larger goal of donating 400,000 meals in 2024, with aspirations to reach their next million. Tacombi is committed to using its growth for good and will continue to use this day to raise funds and awareness for those facing food insecurity.

“We created Tacombi with the mission to give back to Mexican communities which is what makes this day so important to our team. As Tacombi expands into new cities, we remain committed to growing the impact of The Tacombi Foundation,” remarks Founder Dario Wolos.  “As a Mexican led foundation, our strategy seeks to invest in the communities in which we operate with a particular focus on the Hispanic community. We are honored to support our communities through food relief and education initiatives.”

From its beginnings as a taco-serving bus on the beaches of the Yucatán in 2006, Tacombi has grown to operate 19 taquerias across major U.S. cities, including: New York City, Miami, FL, Chicago, IL, and the Greater Washington, D.C. area. Drawing on the rich culinary traditions across distinct regions of Mexico, its menu offers a variety of authentic taco recipes alongside traditional Mexican bites and beverages.

Each of Tacombi’s taquerias actively contributes to the foundation’s efforts, donating over 8,500 culturally-relevant meals every week to those in need through the Tacombi Community Kitchen program. These meals are made in the kitchens of all of Tacombi’s taquerias and feature delicious, wholesome meals that include Vista Hermosa tortillas. Beneficiaries of these meals are largely immigrants from Mexico, Dominican Republic, and Central & South America or laid off and furloughed workers living in low income communities.
