True Food Kitchen, the new restaurant developed by Fox Restaurant Concepts and best-selling healthy-living author Dr. Andrew Weil, unveiled the menus for its second location, opening in Newport Beach, California, on August 2. Developed by executive chef Michael Stebner, the restaurant’s brunch, lunch, and dinner menus use simple, fresh, locally sourced ingredients that are packed with nutrients that nourish the mind, body, and spirit. Chef Stebner’s new menus boast 14 original dishes developed specifically for the Newport Beach location.

Inspired by Mediterranean, Asian, and Californian cuisine, True Food Kitchen offers a wide selection of options, including several vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free dishes. The restaurant always uses the highest quality ingredients, including wild or sustainably harvested seafood; natural, hormone-, and antibiotic-free chicken, turkey, and natural angus beef; healthy fats like extra virgin olive oil and expellier pressed canola oil; organic dairy; and wheat free pasta, made from brown and white rice. Additionally, True Food Kitchen is the only restaurant in the nation to provide Olivello Juice, an extract from sea buckthorn berries that provides powerful natural anti-oxidants and other protective phytonutrients.

Chef Stebner’s new starters for lunch and dinner include Shiitake Mushroom Lettuce Cups, Falafel Sliders, and House Smoked Salmon, which compliment other favorite appetizers like Edamame Dumplings, Caramelized Onion Tart, and Local Vegetable Crudités. The menu of fresh salads features the new Chicken Chopped and Heirloom Tomato & Watermelon Salads, as well as one of the restaurant’s most popular salads, the Tuscan Kale. All of the restaurant’s pizzas are made with organic flour, spelt, and flax seed. Flavor combinations include Organic Tomato & Olive Oil or Chicken Sausage, as well as the new Roasted Eggplant or Shrimp and Corn. Pastas and entrées include the Spaghetti Squash Casserole, Organic Ricotta Ravioli, and Turkey Bolognese, which are joined by new dishes such as Natural Beef & Black Rice Stir Fry, Panang Curry, and Halibut Street Tacos. True Food Kitchen’s innovative side dishes include Farro, Sweet Potato Hash, Anasazi Beans, and Jasmine Rice, among others.

Brunch will be offered on Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Fresh and delicious starters include a Banana, Espresso, Pistachio & Date Muffin; an Antioxidant Muffin with cranberries, blueberries, and Olivello Glaze; or refreshing beverages like the Morning Glory, Weekend Warrior, or Green Monster. Other brunch offerings include an Egg White Sandwich, Tofu Scramble Wrap, Greek Frittata, Quinoa Blueberry Johnny Cake, or a new Newport Beach menu item, the Market Vegetable Scramble. Select sandwiches, pizzas, mixed salads, and entrees will also be available during brunch.

True Food Kitchen’s diverse menu also offers a selection of natural sodas and fresh fruit drinks sweetened with Agave nectar or honey, as well as coffee drinks made with Fair Trade, Certified Organic Coffee; natural juice blends; and hot and cold tea from In Pursuit of Tea. The cocktail menu, developed by the restaurant’s director of hospitality and beverage Regan Jasper, utilizes Square One and Rain Organic Vodkas in several drinks, such as the Berry-Cup, Sergeant Pepper, and The True Bloody Mary. Other cocktails created especially for the Fashion Island location include the Cucumber-Kumquat Skinny Margarita, Retail Therapy, and Acai Mojito. True Food Kitchen also has sake, organic and low calorie beer, as well as a wide selection of wines, available by the glass or bottle. All wines are selected based on wineries’ commitment to organic, biodynamic and/or sustainable farming practices.
