Throughout January, Zoup! Eatery celebrated National Soup Month by delivering 100 Zoup! Eatery Rescue Care Packages to deserving recipients across the country. As part of that effort, the fast casual concept known for its wide variety of soups and broths partnered with the NBA’s Detroit Pistons to personally provide warm, filling soup to staff at two Henry Ford Health System locations in the Detroit area on Jan. 21 and 23. Guards Langston Galloway and Tony Snell accompanied Zoup! Eatery team members as they delivered the tasty care packages and visited with patients.
“Giving back to the communities we serve is one of the core values of our company,” says Zoup! Eatery founder and CEO Eric Ersher. “What better time is there than National Soup Month to celebrate the healing power of soup and provide a little warmth and comfort to someone who needs it?”
“The Pistons love to give back to the community especially with partners like Zoup! that have their roots here in Michigan,” says Pistons partnership manager Sarra Serhane. “We have had a long partnership with Henry Ford Health System and are lucky to have a new partnership with Zoup! this year. Henry Ford has a lot of employees who are always giving back to the community, and there’s really nothing better than being able to serve them hot soup and food to show our appreciation for all they do for our fellow community members.”
In addition to the Pistons, Zoup! Eatery coordinated rescues with local food banks in 10 cities to help spread the word and bring warm, filling soup to people in need. The effort was part of the restaurant chain’s Zoup! to the Rescue program, which began in 2011 as a way to demonstrate Zoup! Eatery’s commitment to giving back to the community. Each delivery is scheduled and executed by Zoup! Eatery franchise owners.
Each Rescue Care Package contains a bowl of delicious, filling soup, a big hunk of bread and a beverage, and is personally delivered to a deserving party who has been nominated by a friend or loved one. Zoup! Eatery features a wide variety of “Good, Really Good” soups, including options that are hearty and healthy. Favorites include Chicken Potpie and Lobster Bisque, but guests are encouraged to find the soup that’s perfect for them by sampling before they order.
