Multi-unit Billy Sims BBQ franchisee David Dunn is doubling the size of his franchise in Kansas this year. Dunn currently operates five locations in the state and will add five more by the end of the year. The new restaurants will bring around 150 new jobs to the state.
Dunn and his business partner Sean O’Brien own Billy Sims BBQ restaurants in Arkansas City, Dodge City, Andover, Emporia, and Newton, Kansas. Upcoming locations to open include the Kansas City area of Overland Park in May, Hays this June, and plans fall openings in Hutchinson and West Wichita.
“Billy Sims BBQ is a great concept with delicious food, simple operations and low startup costs,” says David Dunn, Billy Sims BBQ franchisee. “The affordable prices and innovative yet traditional menu has made it a successful franchise and a good investment for me to make in the state of Kansas.”
Dunn has also started to expand his franchise operations to Colorado. He has partnered with Cody and Sharla Wright to open a Billy Sims BBQ restaurant in the greater Denver area in Edgewater, Colorado. Billy Sim BBQ opened its first unit in Colorado Springs on April 7 with another franchisee Jeff and Kayla Hall.
Dunn has spent 20 years in the restaurant business. He previously owned sports bars and restaurants before becoming a Billy Sims BBQ franchisee. He has now been a franchise partner of the popular barbecue brand for nine years.
“As we continue to grow we are looking for multi-unit franchisees like David,” says Jeff Jackson, co-founder and CEO of Billy Sims BBQ. “He has built a great business and is key to our expansion plan in Kansas and beyond.”
Billy Sims BBQ’s extensive menu includes nine meats including favorites such as ribs, beef brisket, pulled pork, chicken, turkey and even Bologna. All meats are smoked daily over Pecan wood in the restaurants. Completing the lineup are traditional sides with a twist, such as baked potato salad and mustard based potato salad, freshly smoked corn, coleslaw, baked beans with pulled pork, green beans with bacon and entrée size salads with fresh vegetables. All Billy Sims BBQ restaurants showcase the smoker in the front of the restaurant with a strategically placed cutting station which shows guests that meats are pulled right off the smoker and freshly sliced prior to serving.
