Neighborhood Retail Group announced BurgerFi will open at 111 N. Pitt Street in Alexandria, Virginia, on September 24. Local owners Dave Landry, his son Chris and their business partner Tim Kelly opened their first BurgerFi almost four years ago in Leesburg, Virgnia, and are again working together to open the Alexandria location.
Neighborhood Retail Group secured the Alexandria location for BurgerFi, which was once home to longstanding local pub Ireland’s Own. This particular BurgerFi is one of the larger restaurants in the national chain, featuring an impressive selection of local craft beers and wine—both on tap—and a pet-friendly courtyard patio dining area.
“The opening of BurgerFi in Old Town Alexandria is perfect for the area’s family-friendly atmosphere,” says Bethany Scanlon, managing principal and co-founder of Neighborhood Retail Group. “Working with Dave, Chris, and Tim to help expand BurgerFi’s national franchise has been an exciting venture.”
Growing up in Alexandria, Old Town was a favorite hangout for Landry who worked at various area restaurants, and later joined the Alexandria Sheriff's Department and served as a correctional officer at the city jail on Princess Street. Landry’s son Chris and his close friend since the third grade, Kelly, have served in various restaurant management positions, eventually realizing they wanted to partner in opening their own restaurant. At the time BurgerFi was an up-and-coming concept beginning to franchise out of Florida and the three were invited to meet with corporate and instantly fell in love with the brand. They opened their first BurgerFi in February 2013 in Leesburg.
“Opening a business in Old Town is like coming home and we’re looking forward to getting involved with our community by supporting local schools and charities.” says Landry, owner of BurgerFi in Alexandria and Leesburg, Virginia. “We are family-friendly with a specialized kids menu and hope to see many of our furry friends out on our patio.”
BurgerFi’s all-natural Angus beef contains no hormones, antibiotics, or steroids. It's humanely raised and source verified. All of BurgerFi’s food is fresh and made onsite from scratch, with locally purchased produce.
Unlike many fast-casual chains BurgerFi’s feature craft beer and wine on tap along with hot dogs, French fries, onion rings, frozen custard, cane sugar sodas, and lemonade.
