Jersey Mike’s Subs will open its first restaurant in the state of Oregon — its 33rd market — in Portland. Franchise owner, Raymund Baluyut, will hold a grand opening and free sub fundraiser from Wednesday, February 6, to Sunday, February 10, to support Randall Children’s Hospital. This is the first of five restaurants that Baluyut will open in Portland.
The new restaurant is located at 10123 NE Cascade Parkway, in Cascade Station, one of the premier shopping centers in the state. Baluyut and team will circulate 10,000 coupons throughout the community, offering a free regular sub for a minimum $1 contribution to Randall Children’s Hospital.
“I am thrilled to bring the Jersey Mike’s brand to Portland,” says Baluyut, a restaurant industry veteran who owned 43 Jack in the Box restaurants in Oregon and Washington. “Jersey Mike’s is truly unique because it hasn’t changed since its inception. Sticking to core values and never compromising quality or service makes Jersey Mike’s special.”
Started at the Jersey Shore in 1956, Jersey Mike’s wins best sub awards in virtually every market it enters.
The history of the company is one of entrepreneurship and giving back. CEO Peter Cancro started the company at age 17, before he was even legally able to slice a sub. The company remains committed to making a difference in the communities it serves. Since 2010, locations throughout the country have raised more than $5 million for worthy local charities and distributed more than 500,000 free sub sandwiches to help numerous causes.
Jersey Mike's continued its steady growth in 2012 opening 92 new restaurants throughout the country, a 33 percent increase in new store growth over 2011.
Store hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., seven days a week.
