FoodHandler® Inc., a subsidiary of BarrierSafe Solutions International (BSSI), announced today that BSSI has been acquired by Linden LLC and The Edgewater Funds.

In addition to the FoodHandler brand, BSSI also owns Microflex® Corporation and MicroActive Corporation. Together they make BSSI, with headquarters in Reno, a supplier of health and safety barrier products to the foodservice, emergency medical, dental, laboratory, automotive and industrial markets throughout North America. BSSI annually sells more than six billion disposable gloves under the FoodHandler and Microflex brands.

Mike Mattos, CEO of BSSI, says the acquisition will help the company and its brands maintain leadership positions in the field of highly engineered
disposable barrier products.

At FoodHandler, the transition is expected to be seamless. “The resources and experience Linden and Edgewater offer will allow FoodHandler to continue its focus on brand growth through innovation, superior quality and a commitment to helping foodservice operators protect their business and customers from foodborne illness outbreaks,” says Kim West, vice president of marketing for FoodHandler.
